How to stop 'software update available' notifications?

How do I shut off 'Software Update Available' notifications from continuously popping up?

I don't want to update my software, I have in the past and I don't like it when then change styles of things and ways of doing things. I don't like to have to learn all over again how to do something. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it)

Dammit, it just started updating even though I didn't agree to it!!!

BUT, for the future, any suggestions??

Traveler, you WANT to update. These are regular security patches to harden the phone against known and expected threats. Malware, Adware, Trojans and Worms are becoming more prolific in Android. These are not updates to the operating system... so these are quite alright to install. Please.
