How to switch Phones on the same contract?

Well, I have an SG3, want a Note 2. Now, whether it's trading off of Craigslist, or having my Wife start a line on my Contract, how can I switch Phones? What do I need to do to switch phones? My thinking is that I have to switch the SD Card, and that is it. Help is appreciated.

Changing phones is pretty easy as long as you are willing to pay for the new one. I have a mobile share plan and usually add a line. I buy the phone, pay the activation fee and just have my AT&T guy just switches over the info such as phone number and stuff.

My gf or her son end up with my "old phone" and I get a new toy, lol.

Feel free to contact me if you want more specifics.

I've swapped out phones on the same line before. Once again you have to buy your phone you want to switch to, but from there it's as simple as putting your SIM in the new one and just setting up your Google account and apps on your new phone. As far as AT&T is concerned, a phone is a phone and as long as you have a data plan they don't care if it's a Nexus 4 or a Note 2. It has your number and it runs on their network as your phone.

Sounds better than spending $500-$700+ on a new device tbh.

Assuming the other party is perfectly fine with a dumb phone or you're adding a line of service that you don't need, I don't get how spending an extra $20-30/month ($480-720 over 2 year contract) plus $250 upfront (total $730-970) saves you money over the long run.

On Line #1, I have my SG3. She doesn't care which Phone she has, so when it comes time to add her onto my Contract, It'd save a lot just having her get a Note 2 and then switching.

Thanks guys.

I just ordered a phone that will be here tomorrow. So, that's it? Just swap sim cards? No need to go to the AT&T store? I'm kinda new to AT&T..

Ugh. Not so easy. The phone I'm trying to replace my old phone with uses a Micro sim card. And no time to go hit at AT&T store. :(
