How to switch to 2g?

Hi I'm trying to work out how to switch to 2g to save battery. |But it doesn't seem to be where I'd expect. ie mobile network settings.

any help?

Go to Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile networks>Network mode .
GSM is 2G and WCDMA is 3G .

Yeah thats where I thought it should be but the only options I have are. Data roaming, use packet data, access point names and network operator.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is right or not because I'm new to smartphones but if you hold down the power button for a couple seconds it brings up 4 options, "Data network" is the one that turns 3G on or off.

GoreGalaxy,My friend, "Data network" is for internet, it uses packet data or data package.(not wifi)

tmcthree, If there's no network mode showing then you can try going to the samsung store and ask them, why there's not a function that can turn 3G on/off.I think they will show you.
