How to synch Google Calendar using USB only

We just bought a used HTC Hero in near mint condition that I gave to my wife to use as (basically) a PDA/Camera/MP3 device (cheaper and better than iPod touch). She uses a basic phone for cell phone calls and doesn't need the added cost of a data package.

Anyhow, we'd like to be able to synch Google calendar, which she uses, to this phone but we've spent half a day trying to figure this out (and... trying to figure out the HTC itself).

Keep in mind we have both the phone and the 3G disabled. We only use Wi-Fi if we are near a router, and we don't have one at home.

So we're totally limited to the USB cable.

Any help on this would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Matt

You can sync your Google Calendar to Outlook, which you then sync to your phone using the HTC Sync software. The only issue would be AFAIK, this would mean you can only sync to Google Calendar via that method. Connecting via WiFi wont be able to sync the calendars.

OK, I'll look into doing that, didn't think of merging Google calendar with Outlook, and then Outlook to the Android. Thanks!
