Root How to tell if my phone was rooted??

So I rooted my phone, followed instructions on the jonamerica website. I was successful (1st time rooter of first android phone of 3 days old) Rebooted phone, I saw I had superuser permissions under my apps. Also had the newest clockworkmod installed.

I downloaded and installed some rootApps and ROM manager installed and was accessible, adfree and LCD Density changer was successful, but the titanium backup, root explorer, along with Drocap2 gave me the 'Unable to obtain root access"

I figured I didn't do the root correctly, so like a n00b, I decided to unroot it.
Followed videos found in the forums, ended up I thought I bricked my phone. Phone wouldnt boot, vibrate once only (no screen display) when booting to the hboot.

I have the SLCD screen and my phone was still set to S-OFF. Screen would not display but I had a working phone. Followed instructions on dougpistons site to reload the radio and I have a phone again. (had to do this blindly)

Also factory reset phone, reactivated it and did all wipes on phone, formatted sdcard again.

Is there anyway to tell if my phone has been rooted now that I am back on froyo 2.2???

You are probably still s-off which you can see in hboot. (hold volume down while turning phone on; in top left corner you will see s-on or s-off) Not sure what your end goal is hear. Do you want to reroot? And sounds like your original problems with root were because you were missing "busybox" , which could of been solved by hitting the "problems?" button in titanium.

Well since I was suckered into getting this phone bc my previous blackberry died, I want to make sure there is no way to tell if I have ever rooted it. (if the thunderbolt comes out before my 14 days is up, I'm taking this one back, if not, its still a great phone....coming from a BB)

But I do see S-OFF in hboot. Is that something they void your warranty for?

i honestly doubt theyd ever notice if you took it in rooted. when phones are returned, they are sent back, reflashed with newest avalable software, and checked for hardware malfunctions. following that they are sold as refurbs or sent out as replacements.

but assuming someone at verizon was actually checking prior to all that,if you have the S-ON,i dont believe there is a way they could tell.

Yea, I doubt they would notice at the store. Being that it is little tiny writing at the top, but who knows. Just wanna be safe and not take the chance.

But like I said, if I do not take it back to get the thunderbolt, this is still a wonderful phone.

Any recommendations to which ROM is the best as far as battery life and no bloatware?

If you are still s-off you can flash clockwork back onto your phone, then use clockwork to flash the "s-on" tool from unrevoked's site (it's on the wiki page) then unroot again. DON'T USE THE VIDEO to unroot again. Use the instructions you got from dougpiston.

Sorry for all the questions... but do I have to root the phone again to flash clockworkmod on it?

no, you can just flash a clockwork recovery PB31IMG.zip file from hboot onto your phone. Then install the s-on tool from unrevoked's website from clockwork. Then you can unroot again, using the 2.2(froyo) RUU or PB31IMG.zip file.

You can just re-root your phone using the unrevoked program too, whatever is easier for you.
