Root How to tether in 2014?

I used to be able to tether with this phone in the past, but can't anymore...

Used to switch agent and do it wirelessly or with a usb cable, but after a few apps, nothing seems to work.

I want to tether to my new Nexus 7 2013 via wifi if possible or bluetooth. Am using a rooted, stock but debloated rom.

Any tips?
