Help How to transfer contacts?

My HTC One X has a broken screen but I can see it in the sunlight.

So I saved all 100 contacts to one of the linked Gmail accounts through "manage contacts>copy contacts."

Problem is, when I go on my HTC One m8 and do the same to copy those contacts, it copies the email address contacts rather than the phone numbers.

Anyone know how to fix this? How else can I transfer over my contacts?

If your contacts are attached to your google account you can simply go to settings > accounts and sync > google > and press on the email address on the screen and a list of things to be synced will come up, choose the items you want to sync, including contacts and they will all be moved over to your new phone.


since you can still see your screen on your old phone you can also go to the play store and download the HTC transfer tool (on the old phone), open it and then go to the new phone >settings get content from another phone and follow the instructions there

Thanks for the quick reply! Regarding this option, syncing contacts from the Gmail account only syncs the contacts that I have emailed, not the numbers that were on my old phone.

On my old phone, I was able to copy the contacts to my Gmail by going through "contacts>manage contacts>copy contacts>Gmail Account." Again, doing the same on the new phone to get those contacts only gives me people that I have emailed, not the phone numbers that I had on that old phone.

I'm having trouble with the second option since the app screen is so dark. I only managed to install and open the app on the old phone.

It should, HTC Transfer tool works quite well for that.

I ended up going to "manage contacts>copy>via email" and transferred them to my new phone and wiped the old one. Thanks for the help!
