How to turn message notifications back on?

This has probably been asked before, but I can't find the answer, so I'll post it again. Sorry, if it has.

I tried out chompsms recently, but I just didn't like the way it working compared to the regular messaging system. My friend somehow turned off the notifications for the built in messaging system, so now that I've uninstalled chomp, I don't know when I get messages. I can't figure out how to turn it back on. I've looked all through the settings. Any help would be appreciated.

Open up the messenger app, press the menu button, select settings, scroll down until you see Notification settings and make sure Notifications has a check in it. You can also select a ringtone and set your phone to vibrate from there.
