Help How to turn off/lock screen without pausing video?

So when you turn off the screen when playing a video, the video automatically pauses. Is there an option--or a different video-playing app with an option--to make this not happen?

This would be extremely helpful to me all day, six/five days a week, all year round.

I'm interested in something like this, but maybe app specific.

My example would be playing Ingress, it would be nice to ride around with the app open, screen off, so I can collect xm.

I've been using MX Player for a while. It seems like this is an option it would have, but I'm not absolutely sure. Check on it. Otherwise, you might have better luck in the apps section of the forum.
