Help How to turn off smart stay feature

My wife has the Note 2 and would like to turn off the smart stay feature, I have unchecked the option in settings but the eye icon still shows in the upper portion of the screen. Is there another step involved?

That icon is also for smart rotation. You can turn it off in the same place you turned off smart stay.
