How to turn on silently

Is there a setting that I can use so that the HTC tune does not play when I turn the phone on?

Also, is there any way of rebooting the phone without turning it off and then on? Something like a restart in windows.

There's an app called Silent Boot, which turns off the volume just before shut down. If you turn the volume off, when it boots up, the starting sound is quieted. With Silent Boot, your sound volume gets restored, though. Try it - it works. Otherwise, you need to root and rename (I haven't figured that part out yet. Haha...)
