I've found that the best way for me was to use Loota's SPRINTSTOCK (lemme know if you'd like help with this method). Others have said that simply by allowing their phone to receive the update, that it undid their root.
No problem, always willing to helpOne thing I forgot to ask was whether you're on Boost or Sprint, but Loota has an image for both on the same post, so it shouldn't matter, as long as you use the correct one for your phone.

Let me make sure I fully understand what's going on. You bought a new Ultra. You want to unroot the original Ultra and give it to a family member, then activate the new one and root it?
EDIT: Just to be clear, please don't mistake my confusion for condescension. I just want to be absolutely sure I understand what's going on so I can help you to the best of my abilities.![]()
I'm not 100%, but I believe you could leave the TU just as it is, do a factory reset (Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset), and let your uncle transfer his number over or activate a new account, and it'll work just fine, root and all. If he has someone from Boost help him in person, they may give him a hard time about the phone being rooted (especially if it's got a custom ROM installed), but otherwise it should work just as well for him as it did for you.
Unfortunately, without having experienced a similar situation myself, I can't be completely certain. :/
