Help How to use ADownloader

Pattie

Newbie
Can anyone help out with aDownloader? I'm a noob to using it, and haven't been able to find too much info on the internets on using it with the Galaxy Tab besides the basic instructructions.

Specifically, I download movies but sometimes can't play them. I installed another video player (online player, which was recommended), but still can't play certain movies. I get a message that this type of file can't be played, or I need to download an application to unzip, stuff like that. TV shows tend to have no problems.

I downloaded a BRRip version of a movie, and it played but haltingly. Is that because I can't play Blue Ray movies on the tablet, or is it my player?

So, I guess I'm looking for information on what versions of movies I should download (BRRip, DVDRip, avi, etc.), or if there is a different video player I should be using, and any other info you might think useful.

Thanks, and apologies in advance for the noobness of this post.

You've got several problems, Pattie. First is your source for movies. If you are downloading copyrighted content from torrent sites they have either been ripped from disk to new formats, copied with DRM protection in place or re-encoded. These files at best are poorly distributed copies, at worst they are pirated and/or vectors for malicious software. Android Forums does not condone or support piracy of any type, so I really hope that is not your intention. Just so you know, TV shows recorded over the air or from broadcast cable are also copyrighted and may not be reproduced or distributed without the consent of the network.

As far as the file formats go, you should probably stick with a codec for mobile devices.

Thanks for the info. How interesting that the Verizon Wireless people push the tablet as a source for downloading these movies and shows with aDownloader, and they even have their tablets displayed in their stores with aDownloader on them and use it as a reason to buy the tablet. They told me how much money I would save in this way, and that I would "make my money back" in no time. When I questioned them about the legality of it, they assured me that it is in no way illegal! I wish I could remember how they explained to me but I don't, I just remember them assuring me that it was perfectly legal and the best reason for buying a Galaxy Tab.

I have no interested in breaking laws or using pirated video, I was just trying to do what my Verizon Wireless salesman told me to do. If they instructed me to break the law, I have a real problem with that and will rethink doing any business with Verizon Wireless in the future.

Color me skeptical. I can

I can't speak for Verizon policy, but in my local Verizon store in NY, which is a pretty large and busy store, the tablets are dispayed right next to the check out desk, with aDownloader loaded on the tablet, and the salesman demonstrated to me, and my husband who was standing right next to me, how to use aDownloader to save all this money. He even told us how he used it all the time. He said to me it was the best reason to buy the Galaxy Tab, because I was hesitant about paying for another dataplan, and he told me this was how I would make that money back. This was right in front of every other salesperson behind the counter, and the other customers who were there looking at tablets heard the same thing.

We actually went to a Verizon Wireless booth at a home show the next day, and the Verizon salespeople at that booth talked to us about aDownloader again. And those salespeople were from different stores.

I am not making this up.
