Help How to use droid x as a dial up modem

Copied this from a 2010 thread with no solution.

Is it possible to use a DroidX as a dial-up modem? I'm not talking about a cable modem or some way to get on the Internet, but rather dialing into a remote server via an analog phone connection. Examples being old-school BBSes or RAS/DUN servers.

Most if not all the Motorola Phones I've had over the years have this capability, and given the Droidx is seen by my Linux laptop as both a USB storage device and Network device is there any way to set it up as a USB modem that could accept AT commands from a terminal program and dial out to a remote modem?

Verizon has discontinued Circuit Switched Data (the technical term for using your cellphone as a plain old telephone). I think T-Mobile is the only carrier in the US who still offers this -though the speeds are fairly low (14.4 kbps)

Like great arbor said, you're pretty much out of luck. Really curious as to why you need to do this though... :-)

It should also be noted that most start phones (not sure about Droid x) do not have the hardware needed to modulate the signal.
