How to use Instagram?

So I downloaded instagram but when I launch the app it just asks me to find contacts from my phone book or from facebook, then when I find them and follow them nothing happens

how to launch the actual app which helps you take photos and add effects to them?

After you finish signing up, it should take you straight to your homescreen. On the bottom in the middle will be a camera icon. After that you can take pictures then add filters if you want.

It would be nice if you could still use instagram without having to log in.

Try an app called After Focus Pro, basically all the same features as Instagram, but no need to log in to anything and you've the option to share to various social networking sites.

Also allows you to edit the entire pic without having to crop it first.

Unless I'm using After Focus wrong it doesn't seem like instagram at all. At least not in ease of use. Instagram you take a pic apply a filter. After Focus has you drawing lines and stuff and even after drawing a lot of lines the pic never did anything but have lines on it.

Thanks for the tip, but not quite the replacement. I had been using Retro Camera Plus, but that you have to select the filter before taking the picture.

Those lines are your area of focus, if you don't want to focus on specific area of the pic, don't draw, just hit the blue arrow in the top right of the screen and it will take you to the page where you can apply filters and effects.

Once you've applied the filters you want, hit the save icon (it looks like a little disk along the top of the screen).

That help?

Yes that helped a lot. Playing with it helped too. It seems to be a more after the fact thing, but something i will play quite a lot.
