How to use SD card instead of internal phone memory

Lizalu68

Newbie
I'm new to a lot of this so bear with me please..I got a warning that I have little memory left on the phone. How do I move my downloaded games to the SD card..I have an 8MB

Thanks in advance

You can only really back them up to the SD card (using Astro) at the moment you can't run them from there unless you have rooted your phone I believe but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable around that will confirm if possible or not.

If you have rooted your phone, it is possible to run apps from the SD Card...there is a post over at the xda forums that gives a step by step...

I am adding this link from another post in this forum : (thanks to JJbdoggg)

The link will take you to xda-developer's forum where a detailed guide is provided to allow apps to be stored and run on your SDCard:

You will need to register on that forum ... to download a couple of configuration file that are used in the process of setting up the G1. Also your SDCard will need to be reformated with two partitions... 1 FAT, and 1 EXT2 ... (be sure to backup your existing data on your SDCard)
also you will need to download the listed programs to format the drive ... it can be done with (windows or linux) ...I have not done this ... so please read the full thread on the xda forum

Feel free to post your results and findings here as well ...
