How to use taskiller

Ok im a newb to this whole droid thing..So please dont verbally assault me..lol


so far i have done ok with most things excpt for taskiller. can anyone explain to me how exactly to use it? im lost. thanx
 
I'm pretty new also, but from what I've gathered in using Taskiller (for the last week or two) is that it will list all the apps that the OS is running. When you tap on one of the applications listed, it will cease to run in the background.

The general consensus I have been reading on this forum is that Task Killer (et. al) wastes more battery than its worth. I saw an instant improvement once I removed.

I use Toggle Settings and like it. It easy/free and gives you more control, can see memory and battery

Best way to use it on the phone is as a memory space taker.

Best use of Task Killer ? Uninstall it and let the the phone do its job.
 
All I know about Taskiller is that it kinda kills the battery.
 
as i look around im starting to see the general hatred toward it..lol. question though. if you kill an app, how do you restart it?
 
I think I smell some controversy brewing!

Y'all: until someone runs _proper_ benchmarking tests, all we have is "anecdotal evidence", which is kinda like saying "well, _I_ tried chewing gum while walking, and it cured _my_ cancer, so it must be a good thing to do".

I have been using TasKiller for about 2 months now, and my battery lasts LONGER as a result of killing apps and widgets running in the BG. Running TasKiller has _not_ affected my battery detrimentally. So does my experience cancel out the experience of others? Of course not, it just means that until someone does some proper benchmarking tests (like those fancy tech blogs do) it's all a matter of opinion.

Install TasKiller (or any of the others) and see how it works for you on your phone.

For the record, I am NOT affiliated with the Dev(s) who made tasKiller or any other Devs for that matter.

I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV (not really).

Oh, and in closing, it's not always about the battery either, some of us are just paranoid control freaks who feel that _we_ should be the ones deciding what is, or is not, running in the BG on our phones.

Go to the icon for the pp you want and launch it normally.

Also in TasKiller you can "long-press" on an entry to get a pop up menu so you can add apps from the list to an "ignore" list. You do this for apps that you _want_ to have running in the BG all the time, so you don't have to see them in the list all the time (and accidentally close them by pressing the wrong entry). You can edit this list from the settings menu.
 
No. Uninstalling TasKiller just means that anything you previously killed using it will only start running again if one or more of the following is true:

1. You relaunch the app manually by tapping the icon from your home screen
2. It is an app that launches itself in the background on a regular basis
3. It is an app that launches itself at startup and you reboot your phone
