Really annoying:
is it not possible to ONLY start gMail when I want it, and not when gMail "wants it"? It's a work account, so I have no intention to let gmail sync my work emails in my leisure time on the phone - though it is neccesary, sometimes - but this should happen on my request, not gmail's...

Anybody has the same problem?

So, is it possible to prevent gmail from (re)starting?

Thanks

Hi

Yes you can disable the sync:

menu
settings
accounts - select google
then select your account
now untick whatever you don't want to sync ie gmail

(If you have a private gmail account you can add this to the phone and select which parts of which account sync separately)

Hope this helps

Roger

Roger, there is no "tick" option, under each point is only the option to "touch to sync now"...

Apart from preventing a sync, it would be good for performance, battery etc, when gMail ONLY starts when someone wants it to.. :o)

Hi

I see now that you have registered you are on android 2.3 - sorry the info above is for android 4....its been improved. just checked on my old HTC desire running 2.3.3 (custom redux 1.2 ROM) and it has the tick boxes under

accounts and sync settings
manage accounts

You would best ask the question again in the forum for your device and see if anyone there can help

Roger

Thanks Roger for the quick reply; yes,it still looks different than in your HTC, I assume it is specific with this Droid2.
MAybe they forgot the tickboxes ;)

As u say, I'll see if I find anybody who uses the old sliding-brick (backwards evolution seems to erase them slowly but surely... :) )
