Howdy Androidians

Hello fellas,

I've just discovered this forum recently. I've just started embraced to Android after using different mobile devices OS from PalmOS, Symbian, WinMo to Blackberry.

I bought my first Android device - Desire HD last December and found it quite fascinating, albeit being skeptical of the 'push mail' service that is offered by Android, because my perception is that the true 'push mail' service can only be found in Blackberry. However, after using it for almost 2 months, I found it about the same as I can hardly find delays in receiving mails.

Hopefully, I could get more information and exchange experience with members of this forum, so I could explore my phone more :)

Cheers!

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) is a quite interesting piece of software but it's not the only "push" email product. MS Exchange, for example, also supports push email as does Gmail. In the case of a WM or Android smartphone connected to Exchange, the server "pushes" newly received emails to the smartphone email client. With Blackberry, however, the server has to forward the message to BES which, in turn, pushes the message to the handset. It's a minor difference that adds complexity to the process but allows BES to provide additional functionality to the handset.
