Howdy from the Gulf Coast of Texas !!

Thinking about a Galaxy SIII (AT$T). Ive been an iPhone user for three years, Crackberry addict before that.

Creating/Viewing and Editing Ms Office documents and working with them via email is huge deal for my phone use. Also Google Calendar and Sync. are important.
I read that Docs to Go is available for Android, it's a product that I'm familiar with. Lower cost alternatives are available I'm sure.
Looks like Iv'e got some reading to do in FAQs and recent posts.

One haunting question if you will:
The Galaxy SIII appears to come pre-loaded with Ice Cream Sandwich. Will this handset be upgradable to the more recent releases ie. Jelly Bean as it becomes available? Or are you stuck with updated versions of the preexisting firmware ie Ice Cream Sandwich V5.0.?

Sorry for the newb question right out of the box !!

Welcome to the forums Freebee271!

And don't worry we welcome any and all questions regardless of what they are :)

And it totally depends on your carrier if you will get updates like that. If you told us what carrier you had we could try and determine whether such an upgrade would be available!

Thanks again for joining :D:D

P.S. Here is a blog about Jelly Bean coming out for S3, who knows if it pertains to you but it is coming out: Galaxy S3 and Other Samsung Devices Finally Getting Jelly Bean - IGN

Sorry i didn't see that in your post but hopefully this will shed some light on your waiting time:

During Samsung’s keynote today at IFA, they confirmed that the Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) update for the Galaxy S3 will be arriving “very soon.” Since they announced the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Camera as running Jelly Bean out of the box, we would assume that they have basically finalized it for the GS3 as well. “Soon” certainly makes a lot of sense.

The thing to remember, is that the update may be finished, but there are carriers involved that will need to give their final approval. I hate to be a downer, but Verizon’s will likely be last to the party. As a carrier known for being incredibly slow to take their time on updates, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the international variant receive the update first, followed by T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint before Verizon customers can enjoy the fun that is Jelly Bean. After all, the Galaxy Nexus LTE still doesn’t have the update, and it’s a damn Nexus.
