Help HP Printer Adapter

Hi asking on behalf of my mum. She has a nexus 7 and an old HP printer that does not have wireless. She bought an adapter that links the micro usb on the nexus to the pc connector lead on the printer. My question is how do I get it to work? The nexus has a built in plugin but that requires a wireless printer so is there another app that I need to download? Tia

If the HP Print app doesn't work with that setup, I'd connect the printer to the computer (assuming she has one connected to the internet by wifi), add a new printer, add that one and allow sharing.

Then use Google Cloud Printing (you'll need Chrome to set it up, but not to print once it's set up). I use Cloud Print on my phone to print to my printer from anywhere - no wires.
