Help HP Touchpad Fully Charged Won't Turn On

This one was a newly experienced behavior.

I keep my TP charging on a wireless dock. The thing is excellent. No physical cycles to the USB port for charging!!! If you have an HPTP but you don't have a wireless charging dock, consider one.

Anyway, so I pull the TP off the dock, and go to wake it up. ZZZzzzz.

Neither the Power button nor the Home button wake the unit.

I plugged in a wall charger thinking the unit had run-down because I hadn't placed it on the doc properly... and feared the worse. No car, no lights, no motor car. No blinking indicator under the Home button.

I held the Power button and the Home button for about 30 or more seconds, and the thing booted to CM10, with 100% battery.

Ever seen anything like that before?

For me nt on the Touchstone, but it happens on the regular charger on occason on both of my TP. Sometimes it can take as long as 2 minutes holding down the power and home buttons. It only happens in CM not WebOS. Since I set WiFi to sleep never it hasn;t happened yet, but I have only used the regular charger once lately.

I haven't had it some time (and don't like or use a Touchstone), but it's a common problem.

Rule #1, if you can't wake it up, try pressing both buttons for at least 30 seconds.

So was it fully charged when you woke it?

Yes, it was fully charged when I woke it.

Got me thinking maybe it shut itself down because it had over-charged?

Very odd.

It wasn't shut down, it was probably SOD (sleep of death) and doesn't wake up, which is why you have to hard-reset to get out of it.

If you're not using it, why not shut it down? :D

Like Colchiro, I don't trust the TouchStone. Seen too many folks like yourself have issues like yours and up to becoming bricked when they thought the TouchPad was properly positioned and charging. I would also point you to a post I made back in April that might have been part of your problem. I see it's only been viewed a few hundred times and wonder if it needs to be made a sticky for a while to keep it in prominent view.

Is that possible Colchiro?

Well, what was the whole deal with Flashing the A6? Is that something I should do, and how?

As for an enhancement, if I put the TP down on the Touchstone, it would be nice if the system detected this and allowed me to configure a notification sound to help me confirm it's been placed on the Touchstone charger properly. A small app from the Market would suffice as well - doesn't have to be part of the build. Heck, I use Battery Circle, I wonder if I might get the developer to do something there...

One annoyance, and I've reported it elsewhere, sometimes, when the unit gets low on charge and I've paired with a BT A2DP Stereo Receiver, the dang thing will start endlessly chirping a warning about low-battery.

And another annoyance, if I start playback of TuneIn or Pandora over BT, and then I proceed to put my TP on the Touchstone, the BT connection will be broken. To get around that, I have to pair while I'm on the charger.

These two annoyances are relatively minor... but if someone can suggest where I should go to report these things, and the enhancement, I'd do it.

Flashing your A6 is to improve battery life while it sleeps. More on that here: TouchPad Battery Drain issues & How Flashing A6 Firmware can help - HP Touchpad - RootzWiki

Running any Li battery to 15% (or lower) repeatedly, will shorten it's life.

None of these builds are considered stable and pretty sure they cost you nothing. There are no guarantees. FWIW, CM9 and CM10 work fine for me, but I only occasionally use a BT keyboard when I've wiped everything. I have noticed issues with CM10.1, but those issues are starting to get resolved as it becomes more mature. Most TP CM10.1 roms have BT issues.

Your best bet would be to find out whether CM9 or CM10 has the best record with the issues you're having and flash that.
