Htc 1 mini notification problem

How can I change my notification sounds on the htc 1 mini? I have tried the personalisation menus in settings > apps, settings > sounds and through the text message app itself but with no success. Any help would be gratefully received.

To set a general notification sound for all apps that raise notifications go into Settings | Sounds | Default Notification Sound and choose a tone. This will be the default sound played if you haven't chosen an app specific tone. Note that you can also set all the default to a silent tone as well.

To set a different notification for specific apps like messaging, go inth the app, choose settings | notifications |sounds and choose a tone. This will override the default set above. It is pretty much the same for all apps. For most email apps, it is a bit differeny, go into the email app, choose Settings | [your email address] | Inbox Sound | Sound.

Another tool I like to use for controlling notifications (both led notifications and tones) is Light Flow (free / paid in Play store).
