Help HTC 4G Lte ringtone issue

Bunky67

Lurker
I recently got a replacement phone for my HTC 3D and was given a 4G Lte (sprint) I transferred my files from my old phone and everything worked fine but my Custom Ringtone. If you go to ringtones it's listed and plays normal, but when you assign it as default and call the phone it plays a generic ringtone, my ringtone is in MP3 and was 35 seconds long so I shortened it to 28 seconds, but it still doesn't work. I have also tried installing it through My Music and through my PC and inserting the sound into the ringtone folder. nothing seems to work, My custom notifications work fine..

I went to the HTC online chat and the woman there thought my phone was in "safe mode " but it didn't appear it was and that didn't help..

Also I read about an antivirus possibly messing with the ringtone, so I disabled the Anti virus and that didn't work either.

Does anyone have any Suggestions ?

Can you open the ringtone in a file manger on your phone and it play fine? Did you place the ringtone in internal or external storage? Internal is best for ringtones and notifications. If you were rooted you could just place it in the system folder. If your ringtone doesn't play try to download one and see if that works.

Custom ring tones failing was a known defect on the LTEvo (HTC Evo 4G LTE).

There's nothing that you can do about it with the earlier OS versions that it supported - and any advice to the contrary will turn out to be false after a reboot or two. (We beat on this sideways on the Viper team as did other devs and the entire user community.)

It's *possible*, *possible* mind you, that the last full update (that requires the phone to be completely reflashed, it's NOT available via a normal update) will have fixed it.

If you're not on Android 4.3 (and I never saw them ship one that way) here's where to get the irreversible RUU -

That will change your partition layout (a good thing) and erase absolutely everything of yours from the phone.

Hope this helps.
