Wow, Nexus One just got multi-touch. The Bravo/Passion/Incredible/whatever just got knocked down a notch in my list. At this point my only concern would be what, if any, support Verizon will provide, or if they'll just sit back and stay out of it like T-Mobile.

Why would they, it Google's phone. What really worries me about the Nexus one is that we won't have the same policies to adhere to, for instance no 30 day return policy, also Google is not going to care if we have been a customer for 10 years it means nothing to them, also how will this affect our warranty(i.e. replacement program)

I just read about that this late afternoon. I was thinking that the Nexus One wouldn't be that bad. It is really down to which comes out first. If it is the Nexus, I'll take it and just wait for a sense ROM.

We really have no idea how Verizon and Google will partner for their Nexus One, including support. It's a whole different ball game with Sprint/Verizon compared to AT&T/T-Mobile. Unlike GSM, you can't really buy a CDMA phone and take it to any carrier, so they may offer it contract free at full price, but it won't be unlocked. You'll have to choose your carrier at purchase time. What might happen is that both CDMA carriers will agree to accept Nexus One ESN's on an as-purchased basis through the Google store front. Once you buy a Nexus One for either CDMA carrier, it's added to their database and becomes an authorized CDMA device exclusive to that selected carrier, and at that point it's probably staying locked to that carrier for life. It's a different mode than the current Nexus One which is not locked in any way, shape, or form to T-Mobile like all other devices T-Mobile carries. Remember, just because US GSM phones accept SIM cards doesn't mean they're unlocked like Euro/Asia/elsewhere. Without a locked phone, T-Mobile may have declined to provide support. Just my hypothesis.

The N1 just got a bump in my book. Assuming the new every two credit can be used on the N1, I will grab whichever comes first.

Does anyone see any downsides in getting the n1 and then porting sense over later when the Bravo does indeed come out.

Sure, I'll miss the iPhone's wonderful keyboard, touchscreen, apps, and the ability to play my content, but I snapped out of that phase. The iPhone is just too limiting.

Besides needing to root the phone and voiding your warranty?

I'm sure I'd root the phone anyway, so yes.

But what really kills me is the fact that it doesn't have a USB charger in one kind of deal that the iPhone and all other HTC smartpbones have. Kills me.

I'm not following. What's the deal with the N1 charger?

I love the chargers that have the USB plug into the power block itself so that it doubles as a USB cord and a charger essentially. On the N1, there is a separate charger and a separate USB cable which is very inconvenient for me.

Well it does mean you can charge it at 2 different locations.

You honestly think Verizon is taking it and not fighting back? Are you serious? Have you not seen any of the coverage map commercials. I'd say that Verizon is dishing out way better attacks than AT&T is. They're not just sitting there taking it AT ALL.

+1. I think the ads they are running and continue to run are pretty clear and make a much better case than AT&T is making. The continued success of VZW without the "Jesus" phone is pretty well documented.

In terms of this forum name, it probably does need a rename. I think that LONG ago it was discovered that the N1 = Passion. It is also well known that VZW will get the N1 soon, and the Passion and PassionC code names certainly make sense. This forum should be called something like "Upcoming HTC Megaphone for Verizon" or something.

Based on the evidence I've seen (which is the same as everyone else here), it appears that the Incredible is bound for VZW, and that it is a variant of the Bravo. If that's the case, I'll be more than satisfied. I really have no interest in the N1.

I think we should all sit tight for another two weeks for MWC to roll around. I think we will find out some tidbits of information at that point. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear that some of those HTC code names are upcoming WM7 handsets, which is nearly confirmed to be making an appearance at MWC in a major way.

That works with the nexus?

Don't see why not. 1000mA and it has the circuitry to prevent overcharging. I bought one of those and two car chargers plus a pair of microUSB cables and miniUSB cables, all for $12 shipped. :D Charges my BB, my ipod touch, my wife's env2. Doesn't charge my razr but that's a proprietary issue with this phone. You can't charge a razr over common USB. Anyway, this place is legit and high quality. Got all the HDMI cabling for my home theater set-up at a fraction of the price. Plus, USPS shipping is much more reasonably priced compared to UPS or FedEx for small stuff. Give it a shot.

yah, see that's yucky. I thought about that too, but man, I'm not the type to mess with my phone like that.... I dont know what I'm doing.

as for newsradio.... why are we excited about what it looks like? we've seen real pix of the bravo already.... exciting news would be usa release dates and carrier... dont we pretty much know specs and pix?

that's not to be offensive, just wondering what i'm missing here... I feel like I know what the bravo is, I just want to know if it is coming to verizon and when... but thanks for any info you dig up...

You're not missing anything. We all already know what the Bravo looks like. We've seen real pictures. Your post was right on!

Man, people will complain about anything. The charger...seriously?!?

HAHA dude, I know. People will complain about evvvverything. I was watching a youtube video of a review for the nexus I believe and the guy was from Mobileburn. He's like, "here is the power button...a little shallow, which is pretty inconvenient"

Really dude? seriously? is that shallow button really stressing you out?

D bag.

Pretty much echoes my thoughts in regards to Newsradio. We already know what it looks like, and it has already been confirmed to be the Bravo. You're not providing any new info unless you have confirmation on the Incredible being the U.S. version of the Bravo, or confirmation on release dates / carriers.

Here's two quotes from you yesterday Newsradio...

EVERYONE, thursday, will be 100% pure confirmation, my contacts contact has the bravo, i wont have pics, but will confirm to you all the look to see if its what has been released, as the pics that are out there, all confirmation THURSDAY!!

thursday could be the day we have been waiting for, i will update, asap.

I'm in no way taking part in hating on you as has taken place in previous threads, but you kind of contradict yourself there. It's either 100% or Thursday COULD be the day.... can't be both.... I just want you to be careful how you state things, that's what has caused you all the flack previously anyways, so do yourself a favor.

Sort of more on topic, if the N1 did get multi-touch that's a nice step in the right directions. Have the issues of the touch buttons being inaccurate and the available RAM / ROM been tinkered with yet? I mean officially by Google / HTC, not Cyanogen, even though that's a perfectly safe option as long as you're willing to void any warranty. If they fix those other things, it will be much easier to consider purchasing instead of waiting on something else (Bravo / Incredible....etc....).

Also have they mentioned any progress on an official Google / HTC release making it possible to store apps on the SD Card for the N1? Are people still working on finding a way to re-lock or "Un-root" the phone, so if you did root and there was an issue you could undo that if necessary to make it eligible for warranty stuff, or has that been determined to be impossible with the way they made it?

If some of those issues get fixed and hopefully an improved customer service set-up with the N1, then I'd have no problem considering it equally with the Bravo. That's assuming Verizon sees them both at around the same time.

I just saw the Devour announced on Moto's site for Verizon. I wonder if they're letting HTC come out with the headline phone this time and announcing it the same time as the Moto Devour. Kind of like they did with the Moto Droid & HTC Droid Eris.

http://mediacenter.motorola.com/Content/Detail.aspx?ReleaseID=12380&NewsAreaID=2

I would place money against this happening. The reason the Eris wasn't announced till a day before the launch was because it was the lesser of the 2 phones with the Droid being announced before hand.
The hope should rather be that for some reason this phone had to be released before other phones. This could be the case because this puts the Devour and Nexus One (possibly) with march release dates which is the end of Q1 and I thought I read somewhere Verizon doesn't like releasing phones in Q1.
Also seems like the Droid line is dead. Further making wonder if Google screwed Verizon on their partnership.

Let us not forget that HTC is planning a press conference on day 2 of MWC, precisely 13 days from now. It could be the official forum for the announcement of new phones. I'd bet on the Bravo being introduced to the public. Hopefully either there, or following, the Incredible will be announced, whether it be at the conference (maybe not) or by Verizon (more likely). Since the Incredible is likely a derivative of the Bravo hardware, if the Bravo is getting its debut at MWC, the Incredible won't be announced or spoken of a minute before. I think this is a calculated decision by HTC in cooperation with Verizon.
