Help HTC Clock & Weather widget stopped working?

I had the plain ol' HTC Clock & Weather widget (you know the one in the pic below) working fine on my myTouch 4G in Chicago up until yesterday. Now, the weather has stopped updating and it says that the weather data cannot be updated. I can use WeatherBug just fine, my GPS is working, and if I use Beautiful Widgets and choose Google to update the weather as opposed to Accuweather, everything is fine. I can go to the accuweather website, I can do anything! But the widget is dead. There are no Hi/Lo numbers on the right and no animated icon.

Now, Beautiful Widgets is great, but I like that HTC widget. I called HTC and they said it might be hardware related? REALLY? I find that very hard to believe....

Anyone have any ideas what's up? I've seen some threads that reference issues like this in the past, but I don't see how they were resolved.

Simple stuff first. Forgive me if you already tried this. Take the widget off your screen. Go to, menu> settings> location, and make sure wireless networks is checked (if already checked toggle it off even back on). Then go to widgets select weather clock and set it to current location. Is it working? If not, we'll try something else.

I've actually tried all that. And I've tried clearing the cache on the app, too. Still no luck.

ok...little more info then. does it show weather info when you manually choose the location? Also just want to make sure you know that there are more than one app associated with the weather and with the weather/clock widget. they are:

clock widget
htc weather sync provider
weather
weather provider
weather widget

so if you only cleared the clock widget that certainly would not do it alone, heck clearing them all out still may not fix your issue, but it couldn't hurt since its not working for you anyway. again if you already knew/did this sorry again. there is a very big user base here and one can never be too sure of the skill level of another member.

now if all that didn't/doesn't work i would suggest your next step be a new sim card, yes i know that sounds stupid and that is what tmo always says to do, but it can help if you are having location related issues. After that all i can really think of is moving on to the dreaded factory reset (which really isn't bad anyway and only takes 5-10 min to get your phone set back up). hope you get it figured out.
