Help HTC desire /android 2.2 help

hi All,

just registered and 1st post:)...

i have a problem and i need some help if possible.

i have a HTC desire and running android 2.2....on certain sites i cannot play video's and it says its because i dont have the latest flash and prompts a download...now i have downloaded flash 11 but it then says that its not compatible with my ph and check system requirements...as far as i am aware flash 11 works with 2.2....this is very annoying...can someone point me in right direction


also Youtube - if you watching a video and want to pause and come back later...is this not possible??...always goes bk to start rather than pick up from were it was paused...

any help appreciated:)
 
I also have a HTC Desire and currently it is on 2.3 so it may not be directly applicable for you, but I will just tell you everything I know.
So far, I haven't encountered any websites with flash that my phone cannot display. You probably might want to give us the names of those websites so that I can check. For me, Flash 11 works flawlessly.
I'm not sure if the latest Youtube update is applicable for Android 2.2, but only 2.3 with the latest update the Youtube application now can remember where you pause and continue accordingly.

thanks for the reply...i switched the browser from opera mini bk to the internet one that was preinstalled and that works...for some reason i cannot run it with firefox or opera mini...i dont have an update to go 2.3..if it possible to get?..thanks
 
I was assuming that you were using the stock browser. FYI, Flash only works with the stock browser. As far as I know, there is no other browser that can run Flash (I may be wrong though).
The Gingerbread 2.3 update for HTC Desire is an RUU (rom update utility), so you will lose all of your data in your internal storage including contacts, sms, etc.... HTC released that update on htcdev.com, under kernel source code (HTCdev - HTC Kernel Source Code and Binaries). You should read all the instructions carefully before doing this, since this update is irreversible, there is no way you can go back to 2.2 through official methods.
 
The mini browsers (Opera Mini, Dolphin Mini), usually dont support flash. Opera Mobile, or Dolphin HD for example, flash works.
