Help HTC Desire C Lagging

Seag

Lurker
Will rooting my Desire C make it go faster? It is SOO laggy when opening SMS, inputing passcode, switching between apps... I've tried just limiting the processes open to 1 or 2 but it doesn't seem to help.

Also, is there a specific ROM I should use once rooted to make it go faster, or an app?

Thanks everyone! I love this place, very helpful!

Ater rooting your device you could overclock the proccesor to make it faster and removing any bloatware would also increase the speed if you are running out of storage

I was just researching that, but I figured out the most EPIC solution of all. Super easy, no root needed, just a quick download of ZEAM task launcher. The phone is at least as fast as my One S now. Admittedly, you can't add folders to home screen, and there are only three windows (haven't really researched into making more screens, yet) but for those who don't want to go through the rooting process (if you're a noob like me) this is absolutely the easiest improvement. I was seriously considering trading in the Desire, but now everything is good.

I still give credit to these forums for finding this ;-) And thanks for the super, super quick reply Liamo_210! More proof of the awesomeness of this place!

Hi..I'm also an HTC Desire C user. i got my phone 2 months ago. anyway, about lagging, yeah, i experience it at times on my phone. but this occurs only when the phone was not properly shut down, and if you checked the "enable fast boot" in Settingd.Power.Fast Boot. fast Booting can cause Desire C to get laggy, even on the first start/power up. another that causes lagginess: in Settings>Developer Options>Show all ANR's. make sure it is not checked. another thing, if you have installed apps that will occupy on the Desire C Notifications tray like Juice Defender, Android File Manager and any app, make sure that you will wait for these apps to initialize when starting your device, especially Juice Defender..wait for about a minute or 2 after your phone has started so that your apps will have time to initialize. Iwon';t recommend using a CPU or RAM accelerating app..believe me, i tried these for a short while, coz i was searching for a way to speed up my device as well (because i installed Need For Speed Shift and Asphalt 5, but know what? the CPU accelerator, RAM accelerator, and Graphics enhancer apps did nothing but caused my phone to go warm even for a short while of extensive use (playing games)..so i immediately uninstalled those crappy apps. did nothing to increase my cpu speed i'd say. i hope those simple advices will help.:)

i tried this launcher, and yes, it made my Desire C quite fast. but yeah, i agree with you, your homescreens will be limited and adding items will almost be imposible..i unionstalled it..but i think i will reinstall it now that you said it.

Glad to see you got it all sorted out and that your enjoying the phone more as a result.
