Help HTC Desire HD Calendar issues

Lurker
I have synched my phone with Outlook 2003. I am finding that the Android calendar app that comes with the phone is not always displaying my events and frequently seizes and I have to Force Close. I anyone else having issues with the Android calendar?

Yes same here. Thought it was the Agenda Widget n uninstalled that but still facing problem of events not loading then force close. Had to keep restarting. The Legend did not hv this problem. Anyone else?

My calendar has completely stopped working. The furthest I can get is to the Month view, but as soon as I try to look at any events or switch to Agenda view it freezes completely, and sometimes locks up my entire phone.

I suspect the calendar is in conflict with another app. I'll try uninstalling a couple and seeing what happens.

This is the default Calendar app that comes with an HTC Desire HD.

Also FYI my calendar synchronises with a number of calendars that are all owned by one Gmail account.

I have the exact same problem, and for some reason my calendar takes up to 60% of my battery life. Someone please help, and my CPU is running at like 90% all the time because of this

I had this issue with my HTC Desire HD as well and have found a fix for it.

i) Go to Manage Applications >> All Apps; Tap the "Calendar" app (this will likely show you a memory usage of 8.00 KB). Tap the "Clear Data" button. This will give you temporary respite. i.e. I cleared data, it worked fine for a while and then gave me the same problems once the data filled up (presumably)

ii) In Manage Applications >> All Apps, you should also see the "Calendar Storage" option (this should have a bit more memory.. mine had about 600kb). Tap this and clear data again. I haven't had an issue since doing this about 10 days ago!

NOTE: Clearing data does not have any significant impact for me as my calendar entries are backed up in my google calendar account anyway. I'm not sure if you could lose locally stored "phone" calendar entries somehow.

try using myphoneexplorer to clear down your calendar and resync with whichever sources you have it on...

I had the same problem until I removed my Facebook calendar from the app. It was just too much for it to handle.

Many thanks for this - I had been having problems with my calendar, and this fix seems to have sorted it out! Don't know why it should have happened in the first place, after only a fortnight or so of using the 'phone!

After trekking around a bit trying to find a solution to above problem (mine acted in exactly the same way) I found a post describing JuiceDefender as the culprit. I have uninstalled Juice Defender and it seems my calender problems have gone away.

It generally seems that the calender app on HTC are very sensitive to other applications "meddling" in it's business since people have described solutions were other apps have interfaced/pulled info from the calender app, and it helped removing them.

Hope it can help others.

Morten

mm. Did as you said but it cleared all my appointments from the phone. When I re synch to outlook the appointments are not copying across.

Outlook 2003? Seems a little dated for future-tech synchronising. I know it's not what you want to hear but perhaps its time to change.

What's wrong with using "old tech"? I still use Outlook 2000  Syncs perfectly with my DHD using MyPhoneExplorer. :D

Yeah probably right but it is a work PC so I don't have much control. I do have 2010 at home but my initial synch duplicated my contacts so need to tidy that up first. Things worked so much better with my windows phone for synching but I love everything else about the desire hd. Will tidy up calendar in 2003 and see what happens after that.

Hi, has anyone had any problems with their HTC Desire HD calendar entries? My husband and I have the same phone and quite weirdly both our calendar entries have disappeared overnight. Birthday's, appointments & engagements everything gone?! It was all there the night before last but gone yesterday & it seems strange it's happened to both our phones at the same time - spooky. Has anyone got any ideas?

yes, same problems here.

all my august onwards entries are gone but are still visible on my google calendar.

just tried clearing the data as mentioned in previous post but its not worked.

it seems like an issue with the last system software update that was a few days ago. i'm on t-mobile if anyone is interested.

i'm moving closer to an iphone day by day what with this and the battery issues.
