HTC Desire HD sound quality

I have a HTC Desire HD and also an iPhone. Out of the box I can say the Desire's sound quality is, without a doubt, not as good as the iPhone. I have good headphones too. I'm hoping this is down to the music player. Is that the case? If so, are there any other music player apps I can download that offer better sound quality?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Saj. I've tried all those different options, and while they improve the quality, it's still not up to par with my iPhone.

Loving the Desire though, and it's only a minor gripe, but I want to lay my iPhone to rest with no regrets.

A friend recommended the DSP Manager app but it doesn't seem to work on my phone - I play with the equalizer but I don't notice any difference.

That's a shame. I would've sacrificed the quality of the camera for a decent sound chip but I guess you can't have it all.

Have you tried using PowerAmp as your player?

It's a great player and I find it better than my iPod Classic using Sennheiser OE headphones.

Hey Jack. I just downloaded the trial version and boooy, what an improvement! The equalizers work a treat and the volume can be boosted by several decibels.

Thanks mate, I will be buying the full version straight away.

I don't want to hijack the thread or anything, but I'm about to become a new Android user and have one quick question; when playing back mp3 files, do Android handsets organise the media using the id3 tags, or can you tell it to just use the directory structure you have the files in?

The system media player seems to organise mp3s using the id3 tags. PowerAmp offers a folder view plus the system id3 organised view. PowerAmp costs just over
