HTC Desire outgoing email problems!!

Hi all,

Is anyone else having problems sending emails from the standard email app on the HTC Desire?? Incoming is fine!

I keep getting a message saying 'unable to send email'. I am on T-Mobile and trying to send an email on Hotmail.

I had this problem a while ago but think it was a problem with yahoo rather than any settings as the problem only lasted a day or so. Do you have this problem connected via wi fi and mobile internet or is it just one or the other?

Its mainly by mobile internet, and occasionally via WIFI. It has been happening for approx 2 weeks now!!!

I am having the same problem for the last week, only mine is a yahoo email. Sending and receiving mail was working just fine for almost an year but now i cannot send.

I emailed yahoo customer service for help and they replied with the server settings which is the same as what I currently have on my phone...so it wasn't much help. Same as you my phone is mostly on mobile internet and sometimes on WIFI.

Doesn't look like it is a yahoo or hotmail issue but maybe with the phone.

I just tried this and it has worked.... i was able to send.

on your outgoing server setting if the security is set to NONE, change it to SSL (or try vice versa if your setting was already set as SSL). you will notice the server port will change to a different number....let it be.

do not make any changes apart from the security setting. I have a yahoo mail and it has worked.

I have had similar issues using Vodafone. Whenever I have the problem (which is at odd times) it is always on 3G, never on wifi. I finally worked out the way to solve it was simply to turn off and on 3G and that seemed to be okay.
