Help htc desire problem

hi any one had prob with htc desire when the phone is switched on it wont let you do anything as it keeps comming up with message saying "the process android process acore has stoped working unexpectedly" then it says force close i think its a softwere problem, you cant phone out or go into the internet but you can go into the settings
