Newbie
Hi there
I have htc desire android 2.2.2
I want to root it while usb cable in not working for debugging mode only charging
I have tried 10s of software which claims it will be rooted without a pc
But no result
Can any 1 plz give me a real idea or software which can really do it
Really i m very tired ... some fruitful help would be much appreciated

You cant root without a PC. What is the problem rooting with a PC?
Sir bcoz my phone is not detected by computer
It only start charging nothing else from both ends mobile n pc
Also checked with 5 different cables but the result is same
Bottom line it is unable to communicate via data cable
Or if u know any way to do it via bluetooth

Sounds to me like the phone is just set to charge, you checked the drop down menu when charging?

Then you have a problem with your phone that rooting will not solve.
But u r developers
U should create some app that would help in case like mine
And I m sure it's not a big deal for u people
And my phone,s problem is only cable connectivity
Inside every thing is ok

Cable connectivity is either hardware or software issue.

Maybe try a factory reset if you've definitely checked the default connection settings in storage menu

... Lol.
We are developers... Reaaaaalllly? How did you get to that conclusion?

Might I just add that SUroot is a very clever lad, well known on these forums, his word is practically law lol.

All I'm trying to say is, how do you know everything inside is ok of such a basic task doesn't work correctly?

Like u said his word is law thats why i told him to help but i think law is also helpless
And i told like 100 times before only problem is with cable port bcoz of some line broken inside and here in saudi arabia no 1 can repair it harmlessly lolx
And if i was in pakistan i would repair it long time before lolx
And i would not be listening your lecture lolx
And last thing dont advise on a problem which solution u dont know urself lol"xxxxxx

You won't listen to my "lecture"

Well.. you came to us, all we are doing is eliminating every possible cause of the problem but all you seem to be doing..(and forgive me if I'm wrong) is throwing every piece of advice back at us, like you know what the problem is, if you know what it is, why did you come to us?

If it is the cable port, then it is Hardware,
just like SUroot said.Even if you could root without a PC, it would not fix that issue

To be fair you've said nothing previously about believing that there is something broken inside the phone, though that did seem a likely explanation.

As SUroot said at the start, there is no way of rooting the Desire without USB. And as rooting voids the warranty, rooting a phone with an existing hardware problem is not recommended, so it's not so surprising that rooting without USB wasn't a priority for the devs (and remember that a developer is not a magician, so not everything is possible anyway).

Sorry we can't help, but if you have a problem with the usb hardware then you can do nothing until that is repaired.

The only thing you can do is try updating to 2.3.3 with the official RUU, set up USB Debugging and root, but as Hadron said if it is a hardware fault nothing can be done until it is fixed.
