HTC Desire screen blackout problem

Hi, I bought my desire last March. A couple of months ago, I dropped it on concrete from a height and smashed the screen. i got it repaired, however I have had some problems with it since then. Whenever i make or receive a phonecall, after the screen goes black, it does not return to normal and stays black. It only sometimes goes back to normal when the other person has hung up, but most of the time I would have to take the battery out and turn it back on as none of the buttons would do anything either! Can anyone help me or tell me why it is doing that and whether and how I could fix that? Thanks a lot.
