Root HTC desire stuck at fastboot!!!

Hi

I have a rooted S-OFF HTC desire stuck at the fastboot, none of the keys are working. but the phone is recognised through fastboot commander.

When i reboot the phone using fastboot oem boot...it boots normally but if i restart my phone im back at fastboot. Please help.

Hi gautam_odi, and welcome to AF :)

When the phone is booted into android, does the "back" button work? I ask because if you press the back button while booting the phone that boots you into fastboot mode, so if there's a problem with that button that might be the cause.

Hi Hadron

This problem started when the back button stopped working.

I was flashing a new rom thru 4EXT and it detected a USB brick..and booted to fastboot. im not usb bricked cause my sd card is detected.

Is my Back button stuck? is it a hardware issue?

Hmm, if the back button doesn't work when you are running android that might suggest a hardware problem. I guess you've tried to free it, eg by pressing the search end of the rocker.

Did you try the usb brick fix anyway while you were in recovery? It shouldn't do any harm (didn't when I played with it).

yes i did try the usb fix, nothing happened actually.

I guess i need to open up the desire and clean the buttons.

So this is not a software issue but only a hardware one?

Hard to tell from here, but if the back button isn't working at all, and you are automatically booting into fastboot (which is what happens if you keep the back button pressed) then that sounds like the button to me. And software is unlikely in that case: a problem with android software won't make you boot into fastboot mode, while a problem with the bootloader (incredibly unlikely) won't affect the button when you are actually running android. So a hardware problem is the simplest explanation, even if I can't be certain it's the actual cause.
