Help HTC Droid Eris Screen Won't Unlock

spiver009

Lurker
Hi guys, pretty new so sorry if this has been posted before...

I set my security pattern lock on last night and I know the pattern, but my Eris keeps telling me that it's incorrect and when I get to the 15th failed attempt it prompts me enter my login information (which I know is correct). Well the real problem is not just the unlock issue, but it's been "Checking..." for a little over an hour now.

And yes, I have tried the whole taking out the battery since I got used to it with BB. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Welcome, sorry to hear you're having so many problems. I recall the Droid having similar issues. Have you tried booting into recovery (stock or custom) and performing a factory reset? It will wipe all your data (but not your SD Card), but you'll be able to start from fresh by entering your Google account.
Not positive how to boot into recovery on the Eris, but I'm guessing it's Power off - Hold Vol down and Power button simultaneously and that should get you there. You should be able to use the volume buttons to toggle the selection and the power to select.

In addition to doing a factory reset (link with instructions at the end), you can also try changing your Google password on a PC web browser. See if that prompts you to change it on the Eris too. I don't know if that works, but it's worth a try.

I did that shortly after I posted just to see if that would work because it worked on another phone I had. And it did the trick. Thanks!
