Help HTC DZ and 2.3

I bought an unlocked DesireZ several months ago.
Much to my chagrin, I discovered that although it's unlocked, it isn't unbranded. As such, I seem to be stuck on 2.2

Is there a way I can manually update it to 2.3+? I'm not adverse to rooting it if that's the case.

You might be better off in the Desire Z forum.

If you root it it should certainly be doable. Otherwise an HTC ROM Update Utility is the manual update. However, rooting tools will be different for the Z from the original Desire (this forum), and maybe also some of the tricks associated with running RUUs (e.g. bypassing the cid check to let you debrand - which isn't needed on the Desire 2.3 update but may well be for the Desire Z).

If you use the "report" button you can ask a mod to move this thread to the Desire Z forum.
