htc error report

Hi i have a htc phone , purchased new in August . The phone keeps shutting down, restarting and saying phone recovering from abnormal reset. It seems to be becoming more frequent.Yesterday it happened about 6 times.I send the reports to htc but is it a fault with my phone?

I've seen that error message appear spuriously after a normal reboot (though I had modified the phone's software, so may have been my fault ). So the message itself isn't something I'd pay much attention to.

However, shutting down and restarting is not normal behaviour, and that does sound like a problem. I'd back up all of your data as soon as possible. After that you could try a factory reset - it will be the first thing that HTC or your network's support people will suggest. If you do that and do not reinstall your apps, and the problem goes away, then it might have been something in your apps or settings. In which case you can then proceed to re-install them gradually, with a day or two inbetween groups of apps, to see whether the problem reappears at some point (if it does, then it's likely one of the things you most recently reinstalled).

Conversely, if the problem is still there after a factory reset then it's a fault, which you should get fixed under warranty.
