HTC EVO 4G Android SIM?

I am thinking of investing in a HTC EVO 4G Android smartphone for Sprint but it states that it does NOT include the SIM card.
I did not think they needed a SIM card but am unsure and would like to know before I spend my money. Thank you.

Bit confused .. Not helped by the fact I have no idea about Sprint

Are you buying the phone from Sprint with a contract or as pay-as-you-go?

If it's contract, I assume Sprint know what they're doing and you won't require a SIM

If it's pay-as-you-go, you will probably need to buy a SIM separately and add funds.

If the phone isn't coming from Sprint, you need to check that it's not locked to another network. If it's unlocked (or locked to Sprint) and runs whatever the Sprint network runs (GSM or CDMA, I have no idea), then you should be fine .. though it may be worth actually checking with Sprint.
