HTC EVO Shift

No release date yet for Samsung Infuse, however Samsung showed a model with 4+" display, similar specs as Infuse, on Verizon 4G(LTE) . No name or date of release mentioned.

Also, both of the new Samsung phones announced are galaxy s phones which guarentees they will be releasing one for all carriers.

Samsung Infuse 4G is announced for ATT and hope there is a Sprint version in works:
- 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus display
- 1.2 Ghz Hummingbird Processor
- 8 megapixel rear camera, with a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera
- Android 2.2 (Running Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UI)
Sounds pretty cool... except that it's a Samsung.
Meaning that my money is on this thing coming out and still running 2.1! LOL

Sprint doesn't need to do the same things ATT and VZW do. ATT's announcements seem so huge, but their 4G rollout won't be anything special. They're already a year+ behind everyone else, and announcing phones that can't take advantage of 4G isn't good. Also, ATT 4G plan costs? That was left out for a reason.

I just want Sprint to continue to be a value provider and not get sucked into what everyone else is doing.

exactly. Sprint may not have the best phone line up, but i like their plans

I am not sure if Swype will be preinstalled on Shift.

It isn't, and the app is a little clunky to get onto your Shift:

You need to get some place where you have wifi access, and hop onto the Wifi with your Shift.

If you haven't signed up, sign up at: Swype | Text Input for Screens

If you have already, visit http://beta.swype.com/android/get/ from your Shift. Download the Installer which then installs Swype for you.

If you don't do this over wifi, a weird bug in the Swype Installer causes the app to open with an error message right away saying a data connection is necessary to proceed, even if you have 4 bars of 3 and 4G.

Once Swype is installed, it works fine without wifi being turned on - you just have to get around this data bug in the Swype Installer once.

If you turn the phone off, the next time you turn it on you experience the same bug all phones do - Swype appears but types nothing until you go to Settings, Keyboard, uncheck all keyboards, check Swype, and accept the Agreement again.

I have to say Swype is so good I wish they'd make it for laptop touchpads. I end up really missing typing with it when I sit down at one of those old-fashioned "keyboards" they have on those "computers."

Someone suggested that the files from the HTC Evo 4G be copied over to the Shift. I think that's an excellent idea - it might get around this annoying re-enable bug on the Shift, and it seems fairly low-risk compared to what that might do to other phones.
