Help HTC 'GPS Fix' System Update stops SIM Card from working

Hi guys,

I got a notification today saying that there was a system update to 'fix problems with GPS', so I went ahead and downloaded it.

Now I have a major issue - the phone is not recognising my SIM card - it keeps saying 'No SIM Card in Phone'!!

It was working right before the update, and I have tried
- taking the SIM out, wiping it and putting it back in
- 'restart'ing the phone
- turning off, taking out the battery for 5 mins, turning back on

but none of these have made the SIM card work again!

Desire HD
Carrier: Orange UK
Android: 2.3.3
HTC Sense: 2.1
Baseband: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
Build: 2.50.61.3 CL123205
Browser: Webket/533.1

Any ideas why the sim card is not being recognised / what I can do to fix it?

This is a real big problem for me as I currently have no phone and I go on a business trip tomorrow!!!!

Thanks in advance,
Michael

You've pretty much done all the things I'd suggest. Have you tried another SIM (just to rule out a SIM issue)?

If that doesn't work, I'd call Orange.

Ok, so I tried another sim in the phone and it asked for the unlock code (Vodafone sim, my phone is locked to orange), so that shows that the other sim is being recognised. I then put my sim into two other (unlocked) phones which have worked in the past with my sim, and they both said 'insert sim', so it looks like it is the sim thats buggered up rather than the phone.
I contacted Orange, and they are sending my a new sim by courier tomorrow, so will report back tomorrow evening with an update :)

That's a little strange... didn't realise that the SIM could be knackered by an update!

Did you have GPS problems before the update and, following the update you got, are they now solved?
