Hi am new to this and also relatively new to android, I have been trying to updates my phones OS to 2.1 but not able too. My phone has been rooted already but all the recovery flash applications don't work on my phone. My phones firmware is 1.5 and the buildnumber is Modaco Custom ROM 3.2 core. Plss any help on how I can update my firmware to 2.1 or higher. I have tried flashrec and it says FAILED

Hello, happy Holiday to you. Sorry to hear that you're having problems with your device. However, I'm not familiar with the 'rooting process', but I'm sure the guys over at the HTC hero "rooting section" might be able to help you with your problem. Tap on the 'sub-forum' link in my signature. Best of luck.
