HTC Hero set date forward (into future) sets it straight back to today

I want to set my Hero's date 1 month forward, so I go into Menu > Settings > Date & time, then untick the Automatic tick box which then allows me to alter the date, time zone, time etc.

When I click Set date and change the date either 1 day, 1 month, 1 year forward it appears in the menu as the new date for about 2 seconds and then it just returns to todays date!

Any ideas? Seems like something else is setting it back? As the automatic tick box is definately unticked.

I think it may be when the Calendar starts to sync (the icon appears in the notification bar) and then the date and time goes back to todays date and time.

It's not the Calendar sync as I've disabled all syncing and it's still setting the date back to todays date.

Anyone got a clue?
