Root HTC incredible 2 verizon want to change rom!!!

hi everyone! i really need some help. i have a verizon gsm phone that is unlocked to any network Andriod version 2.2.1
Baseband version 20.23W.30.0803U_0.99.01.0225_2
build number 1.34.605.4

VIVO_W XB SHIP S-ON RL

Im trying to change the rom because the 2.2.1 keeps rebooting at times. i tried using the revoluntionary to make it S-off . but it failed , what am i suppose to do and what process to take ?

or is there a way i can update it without having to change anything. i just wanna fix the problem with it auto rebooting sometimes
 
yes i think it is the original firmware. i read something where alpharev says that ur phone already needs to be rooted before using it. how do i do that exacty with my phone at its current state?
 
hey how do u actually load the roms to the phone ? all i see is a bunch of .img files and no exe . is there something am missing ? am trying to get the ginger bread file on it . the one that u can put on with s-on or off.
 
Put the file on the root of your sdcard and as the post says rename it and boot into hboot. You get to hboot by holding the volume down button while turning the phone on.
 
so dont extract it? put it on the sd card as a zip file as it is? and what do i rename it do ? then when i go into boot mode by holding down the vol button what option do i go to ?

ok so it worked. i was able to update to 2.3.3 then i used revolutionary to turn it to * S-off * . so finally it worked. after it was done it was asking me to download some clockmod recovery thing but i said no. i noticed that my phone is still in the boot mode , do i restart the phone now or what? just trying to make sure.
 
so what do i do now that i have s-off ? i downloaded rmk superuser in a zip file but dont know how to install it ? do i rename it to something also or do i unzip it ? .
 
but i did a root check and its still saying that my device is not rooted. but it always show * s-off * when i go into the boot menu by holding down the volume and pressing power.
 
ok i was able to root and s-off. i installed a rom on it but i dont have gsm support. and it seems that most of the links for the roms for incredible with gsm support are down. anyone has a working link with a rom for incredible 2 with gsm support?
 
hey, i have one problem with my incredible 2 now. when it * Screen timeout * or i press the button at the top that turns off the screen. the phone reboots itself. why is that?
 
hey , i finally got the rebooting issue fixed. the only rom that was able to solve my rebooting problems with the CM9 rom. but before that i flashed another radio on it ending in 0312. seems like it was a rom problem after all. these verizon phones are very complicated. only problem am having now is the wifi signal seems not to be so strong, is there a way to boost it ?
