I'm looking to upgrade my battery and I've done a lot of research. I've narrowed it down to two possibilities; a 1500mAh and an 1800mAh. As per my research, both fit fine with the stock cover. I would prefer the 1800 for obvious reasons. The only issue is that I read (and now cannot locate) a reply from a senior member (I think his name was Matt) to a battery-related post, in which he stated that HTC never made an 1800 and this is therefore not really a genuine HTC product. If that's true, the battery is not likely to actually be 1800mAh (as per the claims of batteryboss.com and many forum members that OEM batteries are much closer to their actual ratings than aftermarket batteries).

As you can see, this leaves me in a conundrum. Do I play it safe, buy the 1500, and settle for a satisfactory life of mildly improved battery life? Or do I risk everything in the hopes that the 1800 will gift me with almost supernatural battery life for an HTC incredible? Links as follows:

If it is true that the 1800 is aftermarket and rated lower, its actual rating will still most likely be at least slightly above the actual rating of the OEM 1500. However, I'm not sure I'd be willing to take the risk. For the past few months I've been with a 1750mAh Seidio. We were getting along fine, with a seemingly noticeable improvement in stock battery life, but recently it has stopped fitting perfectly within the phone. Slight bumps to the phone's corners cause the phone to instantly shut down. I'm certain it's the battery's fault because bumps do not turn the phone off when I put the OEM 1300mAh in. So basically, I'm not sure if the 1800 would be worth it if it's not OEM, even if it is more powerful than the OEM 1500. I'm not looking for a battery to crap out on me again after several months.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

I have the 1800, and I'm pretty happy with it - it's definitely better than the Seidio. It is a little tighter of a fit, though. You do have to take care to snap each side of the case into the phone, and in my experience, the case and battery pop off if you drop the phone a short, otherwise undamaging distance. However, I don't think this is an issue - the phone doesn't turn off for me, and it still fits in my Seidio Innocase.

Also, I think the same 1800 battery is available here with or without a charger for less money. $20 for the battery alone or $25 for the battery & charger.

I made a post in another thread that better described the life I experience with this battery. You should also consider rooting and installing SetCPU to reduce your processor speed while the screen is off and when the battery is hot or low. Feel free to PM me if you need help with rooting - it's really easy. This also makes it so your phone is cool to the touch all the time with the screen off - that always bugged me when my phone would be sitting on a table getting really hot and eating battery.
