Help HTC Incredible jammed up on me

I have a HTC incredible with Android version 2.3.4.(Gingerbread).
The phone is setup to save pictures to my SD card. Yesterday I took the card out, moved some pictures to my computer and deleted some. When I replaced the card and turned the phone back on it worked for a short period of time, then kept trying to restart, maybe every 4-5 minutes - only getting to the bloodshot eye each time. It did that all day until the battery died. I charged it and took the card out restarted it this morning. Works OK now but w/out the card. What should I do next? Apparently it doesn't like you to mess with the card outside the phone? Don't want to lose my contacts since I haven't got them backed up.
Thanks!

The card could have been corrupted if it wasn't mounted/unmounted properly to the PC, so you can try copying everything off the card... Then format it to FAT32, copy everything back to the card. You want to make sure you properly unmount the card from the PC before pulling the card. Then put the card back into the phone and see if it starts up.... (you should also be unmounting the card from the phone before pulling it out[option is in the storage settings] or powering down the phone)

Your contacts are not stored on the SD card, so you should be fine there. But you might want to take this opportunity(wake up call) to back up your contacts to google :)
