Help HTC Incredible max charge rate

The wall charger that came with it puts out 1A...Does anyone know if that is the max output that a charger can have?

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere i saw a lot of discussion on the topic but not a definitive answer.

You can use any charger you want. The Inc is designed to max itself out at 1A. You could use a 3A charger and the Inc would only pull 1A (as long as it is a 5V charger, which they all should be). The current rating is just the max that the charger is capable of providing the load's resistance is low enough to produce that much current at only 5v (according to Ohm's law).

that is how i thought it worked but i saw a lot of discussion about so then i wasn't sure if I was confused
