HTC Inspire last 2 years?

My wife and I are fixing to upgarde phonese into smartphones. We are going android..obviously. She started out with iphone but after just one day of researching she found out how boring it was compared to android(HTC sense is what she likes) I'm a spec junkie so i'm waiting until at least the Nexus Prime or equivalent phone hits. My wife however doesnt care about all that, just wants it to work. My question is will the HTC Inspire(the one she really likes) last 2 years? Will it run sense 3.5 and ICS on it? IF not is this important for someone who isnt into all that really. I guess i'm asking is gingerbread good enough for 2 years for a casual user?

sorry if its too many questions. Thanks for the responses.

Oh and we are on ATT (incase you didnt catch Inspire) and we have until december to wait so is there something else that will make a better impression coming out by then? Besides the Holiday i dont see anything and She likes 4.3 in but i'm not sure she would want the 4.5 in screen. I wish a verian of sensation XE or XL would come to att. It seems T mobile gets all the phones while att gets one or two all along.

Well, If I were her I would wait for the Galaxy S2, or if she can not then the Infuse it it is not too big. This is just my opinion, because these Samsung phones are built well, just make sure on the Infuse to get maybe a custom rom for the moment froyo sucks, but will be updated soon. The Inspire is extremely old technology (except for that cool design) now, where it soon may not be able to do hard tasks that we will daily need.

Depends on what you want to do with it. For example, other people do fairly fine with casual usage of say a Galaxy Mini or a HTC Wildfire, both phones with weaker hardware than the Inspire.

If all you want to do with your phone (apart from sms, calls, music, videos, pictures and email of course) is facebook, tweet, maybe check-in every now and then to foursquare, play a few casual games, yeah the inspire can last two years. Basically, you only need the latest and greatest phones for gaming. Most apps would work fine on 2.2. So far the only limitation of not upgrading is less hardware optimization (newer OS is faster and smoother), and maybe less 3D and HD games compatible.

Note that I am talking about casual usage here. However I would still suggest getting a newer dual core phone so that updates are more likely to be available.

I have the Inspire and have to say for most needs, it works fine. Tell her to play around with it in the store, Im sure she will like it.

Feel free to PM me with any questions, Ill even record a video for you if you want.

well, I am thinking if I am going to invest into a new phone on contract I would like it to last as long as it can. I dont like the idea of getting a last gen. phone right before the next gen. start. BUt for her all she will do is casual stuff and games like angry birds. But with my new phone I will have ICS on it and i'm thinking when she sees all the new stuff or sees things i can do she cant she will regret it....honestly i dont want to regret it. lol

Well it sounds like it is fine for her and you wanted the best and new. Just get her that one and you can wait to upgrade your own phone.
