Help HTC Legend 3G problem

Hi, I have had my Legend for a while and 3G is not working on it. Mobile network is on, but no 3G symbol is appearing. What's the problem ?

Note that there is an option to enable 3g or use only 2g, primarily to save power i think.

When enabled it should switch automatically to 3g when signal is strong enough.

Make sure your APN settings are entered correctly.

where is this option, I own an HTC Legend and am having trouble getting it to switch from 2g to 3g but I cant find any option to tell it to switch
