Help htc m8 ring tone issue

My phone has suddenly decided to ring once for incoming calls then go silent. I've been through all the settings and still same. Have restarted too. Please help, driving me nuts!! Thanks

Here's a good thing to try for all weird bugs - and this worked for my wife's M8 just last week when hers would not ring for anything.

Setting, Power, make sure that fast boot is NOT checked.

Power off phone.

Hold volume down while powering on until bootloader screen appears. Use on-screen navigation instructions to go to HBOOT then on to RECOVERY.

In RECOVERY, wipe/erase/clear cache (sorry, I forgot the exact term), then from there, reboot system.

No guarantees that will work, but it just may.

It will only wipe system cache, absolutely no app data is touched
